The Audi A6 One of the Best Luxury Cars on the Market

When you begin talking about the Audi A6, you are now talking about a classy car. The A6 is a luxury sedan that is fast, technologically advanced and safe. It is fuel efficient when compared to other cars of its type, which in today's world is becoming more and more important as we become more environmentally aware.

The following article describes what it is that makes the A6 worthy of your attention.

The A6 is a fast car. The car features a 3.2L V6 engine. This engine works at 255 horsepower and has a balancer shaft so that it can run smoothly. I remember, when I was learning about cars, it took a while to even understand what the cc or the litres were in a car. Suffice to say that a 3.2 Litre engine is the same as 3,200cc. The V6 refers to the shape of the cylinder head. For a V6 there are two cylinder heads in the shape of a V to each other. A cylinder head is the middle part of the engine. The gearbox is a seven speed Continuously Variable Transmission, which allows the car to go from zero to sixty miles per hour in about seven seconds and reach speeds of up to 130 miles per hour. This is more than adequate for most countries. It is only in countries with open speed zones that you may find 130mph is not fast enough for your tastes.

A variety of advanced technological features are employed within the A6. The FrontTrak front wheel drive system works to help keep the car from slipping in dangerous driving conditions. Its Electronic Stabilization Program [ESP] works to apply brakes on individual wheels so that car stops safely in bad weather conditions. It reduces the danger of swerving and thus improves directional stability. As the name suggests, ESP identifies the car's intended direction and response.

The A6, in common with other Audi cars, features Bluetooth wireless technology. In this way you can access your phone book on your Bluetooth compatible phone via a display screen in the Audi. Another great advanced feature of the A6, is the Multi-Media Interface system. This interface allows the user to control the internal environment in the car, in terms of climate control and the sound or audio.

Many safety features are employed by the A6. The backguard system works in the event the car is hit from the rear. Passengers on the back seat will be restrained avoiding injuring themselves. An alarm system works to automatically go off when a key that does not match the electronic code of the car is used. Driver and front passenger dual stage and dual threshold next generation air bags are deployed to prevent injuring the front seat passengers during a collision.

Fuel consumption has become a great concern in the auto industry these days. At the time of writing oil has now fallen to about $50 a barrel from it's high of $147 in the summer of 2008. Fortunately the A6, like other Audi cars, is fitted with a fuel efficient engine. The car can get about 27 miles per gallon on the highway and 18 miles per gallon in the city. How does this compare to your car?

In summary, the Audi A6 is a great car to check out. It's not really for the youngsters who fancy themselves as a boy racers. They'll think of it as an older man's car. That said, the Audi A6 will usually out accelerate any car a boy racer is driving. The Audi A6, in common with other larger sized Audi's combines luxury with speed.
